The rear has dual brakes, and the wheels are similar to the Mach 1.
The seventh-generation Ford Mustang is still being tested. The prototype was captured in Dearborn, close to Ford’s headquarters. It looks very similar to previous prototypes. The back is covered with two exhaust pipes. As is so often the case with these types of vehicles, closer inspection reveals some surprises. One of the few areas that are not camouflaged is where we draw your attention. The test pony is on a brand new set of wheels and we are able to see a similarity to the current Mustang. As the car passed, our spy photographer captured a few images of the ‘Stang’s shoes. It appears that the rear tires are 275s. This is the same width as the Mach 1. It’s interesting… but wait. There’s more. The brakes behind those rear wheels look very different from previous prototype sightings. The discs are larger than expected and the dual-caliper setup was something we saw last year on Mustang test mules. The Shelby GT500 pony is the only one with a dual-caliper system on the back. However, don’t make any assumptions about the prototype being a next-gen GT500 or a new Mach 1. Most likely, we are looking at a seventh-generation Mustang GT with a modified performance package. We know that V8 power will last for the foreseeable future, so we expect brake and wheel upgrades. previously captured a Mustang camouflaged singing the song of its people on video.
However, a powerful V8 is not the only option for high-performance. The hybrid Mustang will be available at some point during the next life cycle. However, the pony will likely launch with the EcoBoost four-cylinder engine and the 5.0-liter V8 underneath. When is that going to happen? Although nothing is confirmed, we expect a model to debut in 2023.
