It will be available with a variety of engine options, when it launches later in the year.
Large vans don’t have the same schedule of refreshes and recycling as SUVs. Take the GMC Savana. It is still in production 26-years ago. Today’s Ford Transit, launched in 2013, has a minor facelift coming for 2020. These spy photos show that a new generation of Ford Transit is on the horizon.
This prototype was found on the streets close to Ford’s Germany facility. The Transit Custom has a raised roof and is ready to make a living, or be used as a large camper for those who are looking for small RVs. The Custom is not available in the United States. However, it is expected to increase in size in the mid-size segment. The new platform is six-lug, rather than the five-lugs on the current model. It is possible to find versions of the 2.0-liter and 2.2-liter diesel engines, as well as a range of gasoline and Diesel engines. There will be hybrid and electric versions.
The all-electric version of the vehicle is actually already available. The ETransit Custom made its debut on May 9. We mean Ford, which released images of the exterior and an estimated range of 236 mi on a single charge. Further details will be released later in the year. However, there is little to suggest that the combustion-powered version of Ford’s exterior styling will differ from its predecessor. Spy shots suggest that the E-Transit’s faux corner vents should be functional openings. You can expect different headlights with or without an LED strip connecting them, as the grille will not be strong.
The interior is revealed in a single spy photo. We see two blocks that are quite chunky with a display screen inside. digital is the word here. It is not clear if this is the final design or if there are other options. It looks, among other things it seems, very functional, if not particularly eye-catching.
We expect Ford to unveil its next-generation ICE-powered van in September with E-Transit Custom details.
