It also looks larger because of the raised section at the lower doors.
A Motor1.com reader spotted what we believe is the upcoming refresh of the Honda Accord. (Sorry, Civic). This is our first look at the new four-door.
The front appears to have undergone a major styling overhaul. The current Accord had a semi-open grille. The updated model splits it into two distinct sections. At least, that’s what the camouflage indicates. Although the headlights are still quite narrow, they have a slightly more round shape. Under the concealment, there are some tweaks to the lower fascia.
The raised portion that runs along the lower side of the doors is more obvious in profile. It appears that the spoiler at trunk lid’s tip is at a higher angle.
Our reader was unable to capture the Accord from its rear. However, the shots taken from the side show that there are two types of taillights.
The industry’s current standard is to refresh infotainment systems. The improved Accord could also be affected by this.
The mechanical changes to the refreshed Accord remain a mystery. The current model comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that produces 192 horsepower (143 Kilowatts), a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 252 HP (188 kW), and a hybrid-assisted 2.0 liter four-cylinder that produces 181 hp (135kW).
Honda stopped building Accords with manual gearboxes in December 2019 as only 1-2% of sedan customers were purchasing them. The automaker won’t be reintroducing the three-pedal system for this refresh, it’s safe to assume.
Honda provided information about the differences between each model year’s Honda vehicles. The company listed the Accord and Accord Hybrid under the “To be Announced” section. The refreshed sedan is expected to debut soon, as the 2021 model year has already begun.
