Next-Gen Kia Sportage Revealed From Recent Spy Shots

The design of the crossover has been dramatically updated.

Recent spy video captured a camouflaged next-gen Kia Sportage parked in a parking lot. The camera could be seen very close to the crossover, allowing the photographer to see underneath. Gotcha Cars, a rendering artist, has created a speculative rendering for the new Sportsage.

This rendering gives the next-gen crossover an individual face. The rendering is not the only thing that makes the next-gen crossover stand out. This seems possible based on the glimpses we have seen so far. The Sportage features vertically oriented headlights with a trapezoidal surround. The inner edge is occupied by the running lights.

The tiger-nose grille is still present, but it has been reduced in size and now serves as a crosspiece between headlights. The visual presence is enhanced by a larger inlet.

A pair of horizontal slats run the entire width of the lower fascia. Foglights can be found in every corner.

Based on recent Kia models, the Sportage should be quite impressive inside. The latest models from the company have a striking design and strong technology implementation.

The Sportage will be able to ride on the same platform that the Hyundai Tucson. There will be two wheelbase lengths depending on market. This is due to the preference for different sizes depending on where you live.

The same engines found in the Tucson should also be used by some of the Sportage engines. The base engine of Hyundai is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder inline four-cylinder that produces 187 horsepower (139kilowatts) as well as 178 pound-feet (241newton-meters). A hybrid is also available with a turbocharged four-cylinder 1.6-liter producing 226 horsepower (169 kW) as well as 258 lbft (350 Nm). Spy shots show that the PHEV will be coming.

According to reports, the debut of Sportage is expected to take place in April. This could mean that it will be available for purchase within weeks. The US will see sales of the Sportage before the end.
