Second-gen AMG GT Coupes spied again.

Mercedes-Benz revived last year the SL Roadster, which was under the AMG label. It is now called the Mercedes-AMG SL and replaces the AMG GT Roadster from 2015 to 2021. The GT name is still used for the hardtop version.

Spy shots from the second-generation Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe were released around the beginning of the year. After the initial sighting, the 53-spec GT Coupe was first to be spotted. The 63 version followed shortly. Recent spy photos show that the GT is closer to the Nurburgring.

The latest pictures strongly suggest an evolutionary redesign, just like the ones before. It will likely be inspired by the SL Roadster, and may also borrow elements from the Project One hypercar. However, there are some new features. The yellow GT 53 seems to be wearing blacked out versions of the production wheels. You can also see the dashboard and its retro-looking air conditioning vents.

Second-generation GT Coupe rides on the SL chassis. The hardtop and soft top will likely share components. The company claims that each car will be different in terms of its intended audience and purpose. Even though the basic architecture is the same, the manufacturer promises that the cars will have a different feel. The SL is a comfortable, high-speed open-top cruiser that appeals to people who want a fast and easy-to-drive vehicle. The GT is designed to appeal to those who want a more focused driving experience.

AMG is not specific about the engine specifications. The GT 53 may use a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 469 horsepower (350kilowatts). The GT 63 may use the twin-turbo V8 with 577 horsepower (430 kilowatts). These numbers are based on the SL Roadster’s data. Rumors also suggest a plug in hybrid model with 800 horsepower (597 kilowatts).
