Next-Gen Toyota Tundra Spied On Curvy Roads Towing Trailer

The pickup could not arrive until the second half of next year.

It has been quite some time since we last saw the next-gen Toyota Tundra. The spy photos that were previously taken showed a pickup with its front and rear ends camouflaged with the same cab and truck as the current one. A new TFLNow video shows no significant changes. The new video shows the Tundra towing the trailer in the new video, which suggests that there is progress in the pickup’s development.

After a January report that Toyota delayed the next-gen pickup by two year, Tundra was taken off our radar. The pickup would not arrive in 2022 as a 2021 model according to rumours. However, it is desperately in need of an update. The current Tundra was introduced in 2007 and has been updated several times by Toyota. It still trails Ford, Chevy and Ram in this segment. However, a new-generation F-150 is coming to the market for the 2021 model-year. This truck has sweet tech and new powertrains.

It’s possible that the new Tundra will drop its V8 once it arrives. Toyota may replace the V8 with a twin-turbocharged engine as the pickup switches to the TNGA-F platform. The twin-turbo V6 Toyota will use should be comparable to the F-150 3.5-liter motor. It should produce 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts), and 500 pound-feet (678 Nm) of torque. This engine is from Lexus. Toyota may also offer a hybrid V6 engine in its pickup, but that is likely to be reserved for higher-end models.

Although we don’t know what the Tundra will look like, we expect Toyota to do a complete overhaul of the Tundra’s looks, both inside and outside. The odd camouflage under the truck’s rear bumper suggests that there could be an upgrade to the suspension. As the reveal date nears, we expect to see more Tundra in the months ahead. We will hopefully have more information on its powertrains.
