Next-Generation Genesis G90 is Spied for the First Time Under Heavy Camo

The design of the flagship sedan will be identical to its smaller siblings.

We don’t know much about the next-generation Genesis G90. This is the first time we have seen a prototype car. It was captured on camera and shared via the Dodo Tube YouTube channel. The car is covered in camouflage, but we have some interesting tidbits to take away from the sighting.

The next-gen G90 will use the same dual-plane headlights as its smaller G80 sibling. It’s the current flagship type of vehicle that has this look. However, it was updated in late 2018. and now uses dual-plane headlights with a bisecting LED lamp. It is a hallmark design feature of Genesis on sedans as well as SUVs. So it makes sense that it will be implemented on the future G90.

The big crest grille can still be seen, but it isn’t as low as it used to. While the current model has two lower fascia vents separated by the grille, the new model will feature a single lower grille. This is similar to the one found on the new MercedesBenz sedans. We can see that the C-pillar, side-rear windows and grille will be influenced by the G80 with an increased kink to glass. The video does not give us a clear view of the G90’s rear, but we expect to see bi-sectioned taillights.

This video gives us a glimpse into the interior of the G90. Although the interior is covered, we can see that the steering wheel draws its inspiration from G80. Although Genesis wants to standardize its design language and reduce the possibility of individuality for each model, this standardization is not a good thing.

The new G90 will not be available with any tech upgrades or powertrain options. Cool features such as active noise cancellation are a hallmark of the current model. This basically uses soundwaves in order to block unwanted sounds. The cabin is rich and luxurious with a 12.3-inch touchscreen. There are two engine options available: a twin-turbocharged V6 of 3.3-liters or a V8 of 5.0-liters. However, we expect the twin turbo 3.5-liter V6 will make an appearance in the next generation.

This is our first glimpse of the G90, but we don’t expect to see it soon. For 2022, a South Korean reveal could take place in the latter part of next year.
