Next-Generation Hyundai Elantra Revamped With Sharp Look

All-new design will be featured on the compact sedan.

While the 2018 facelift Hyundai’s Elantra has received has not been widely praised, many people are eager to see the next-generation model. The compact sedan was seen last July wearing a lot of camouflage.

The revamped model is sure to be a hit, especially considering Hyundai’s new design language for the 2020 Sonata which is undoubtedly one of the most fashionable sedans available. The Elantra (Avante, South Korea) is not expected to look like a mini Sonata. However, we are certain that the design team has worked hard to create a distinctive visual identity for the seventh generation.

The revamped sedan will undergo a number of changes, as shown in the video. The Elantra’s corporate “Cascading”, grille will be shaped to meet the new headlights at its upper corners. The roofline will likely be slightly lower to give it a more sleek profile. Camouflaged prototype was a little wider than the current model. This should result in a more spacious cabin.

Although a rendering of the rear end isn’t available, it is likely that the new Elantra will feature full-width LED taillights similar to those on the Kia Optima / HTML5. To get a better idea of the future sedan’s rear end, we will have to wait patiently for spy shots with prototypes in less camouflage.

The Avante’s 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, which was previously seen on a prototype Avante at home in South Korea, will now be featured underneath the hood. The engine will be sold alongside Hyundai’s new 1.6 liter unit with continuously variable va duration (CVVD). It is expected to increase performance by 4 percent, efficiency by 5 percent, and reduce emissions by 12 percent. According to a report by , a hybrid model will be offered as well as a sporty NLine model.

The U.S.-spec Elantra could be available for the 2022 model years, which would mean that a market launch is possible next year. Hyundai will introduce the KDM-spec Avante by the end 2020.
