Nissan Australia announced in mid-2013 that they would launch a hotter version the new Pulsar hatchback (aka Tiida). It will be powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged 188-hp engine (140 kW) that produces 177 lbft (240 Nm) of peak power. The power unit can be connected to either a 6-speed manual transmission (or a CVT).
Although we don’t have any information on the performance of the Pulsar, the same engine that powers the Nissan Juke can do the 0-62 mph sprint (0-100 km/h), in just 8 seconds. The Pulsar SSS should be able to do the same in just over 7 seconds. Since the engine was reworked for Juke NISMO, it shouldn’t surprise that there will be a hotter Nissan Pulsar SSS NISMO.
The Pulsar SSS will be available in China first, then Australia. Australia will have a specially tuned suspension that is based on local road conditions. The Pulsar SSS will likely cost as much as AUD 35,000, whereas the Pulsar Ti, which is the most expensive model, costs AUD 28990.
The public will see the model later in the week at Sydney Motor Show 2012.
