Nissan has revealed the new turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that will power the ZEOD RC.
In October 2013, Nissan showed an updated ZEOD RC and now the Japanese automaker has revealed more details about the traditional engine. The new 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine, called “DIG T R”, will produce a staggering 400 bhp (298kW) and a peak torque (380 Nm) at 7,500 rpm.
The motor weighs in at 40 kg (88 lbs), and Nissan claims it offers more power per kilogram (10 hp/kg) than a Formula 1 engine. The engine is lightweight and compact at just 400mm in length, 200mm width, 500mm high, and 500mm high.
Nissan will continue to test the ZEOD RC over the next four-months so it is ready for Le Mans 24 Hours (June 15-15).
