Nismo will use this race to assess how the new Z will do in competition.
On June 4, and 5, the new Nissan Z will race at Fuji Speedway in the Fuji 24-Hour Race. Nismo will use the opportunity to collect data on how the model performs at the track.
At Fuji Speedway, there will be two teams of three drivers each in the Z. Max Racing will manage the other. Nismo will be running one. Both cars will compete in ST-Q, which is for vehicles that aren’t included in other Super Taikyu Series classes.
Nismo has not provided any information about the modifications made to these cars in order to race them. Images show a modified hood with vents on either side. The cabin’s interior has been stripped and a roll cage is found inside.
The race Z rides on Nismo-branded, eight-spoke wheels with a black finish. The brake discs with slots appear to be larger than those on the road-going model.
The back has a small spoiler and a black wings. The piece looks very similar to the one found on a car in a spy video. Although Nissan does not provide photos of the Z’s rear, it appears that there is a diffuser on the side.
Recently, Nissan pushed back the Z’s launch in Japan and the US. It won’t arrive until the summer instead of the original plan to start sales in June. Prices in Japan start from Y=5,241,500 (40,074 at the current exchange rate). Proto Spec, the top-of-the-line model, is available for Y=6,966,300 (53.26).
The prices for the US are not yet available. Rumours claim that prices for this area start at $40,000, which is comparable to the Japanese market.
The Z comes with a twin turbocharged V6 engine that produces 400 horsepower (298 Kilowatts) as well as 350 pound-feet (475 Newton meters) of torque. This allows you to travel 60 mph (100 km/h) in just five seconds. You can choose between a six-speed manual and a rev-matching function, or a nine speed automatic.
