Mini’s success has inspired Alfa Romeo to respond and enter the fray to claim the title of champion in the premium compact car segment.

Mini would be subject to the same problem as “Everybody Hates Chris”, but it would be a different character. Every competitor aims to beat it in some way, and Alfa Romeo is no exception. The little rival has had many names including Furiosa (furious), Junior, Furiosa (furiosa), and recently, MiTo. This stands for Milano (Milan), Alfa headquarters and where the little car was designed. Torino (Turin), Fiat headquarters is where the car will actually be built. This is the name we chose for the new car. It has a dot in its middle (Mi.To), which corresponds to the meaning that we already explained. Although it could be translated as “Mini Torturer”, Alfa will not acknowledge it. It’ll rather say Mi.To, which could also mean Myth (Mito in Italian). This is what Alfa wants the new car will be.

The official presentation of the Mi.To to international media members is scheduled for June. Sales will follow shortly after. It is 4.06m in length, 1.72m wide, and 1.44m high. Although Wheelbase is not yet known, it is likely to be the same as its Fiat counterpart at 2.52 meters.

The initial engine options will only offer four options. They will range in price from 90 cv up to 155. All petrol and diesel engines will use turbo, just like Lancia Delta. Alfa Romeo does not know how many oil burners there are, but we expect a fair split of two petrol options as well as two diesel options.

This marks the Mi.To’s first car since the 8C Competizione. This supercar will be the company’s new model. It is therefore natural that the cheapest Alfa gets styling cues from its larger brother. These include the unframed side windows and front bumpers, as well as the shape of the headlights, LED taillights, and the headlights. This car will be available for sale in the USA, as it is expected. Too small? You might be wrong.

Alfa gave Mi.To the DNA System to ensure great handling. This holistic system guides the “engine, brakes steering, suspension, and gearbox”. It is most likely the dual-clutch gearbox Fiat calls DDC for quicker changes and a more sporty feel. You can choose from Dynamic for top performance or Normal for city driving. All Weather is for extreme weather conditions.
