This year, the M4 Convertible will also be available.
BMW’s announcement that it will release an electrified M vehicle later in the year is hidden in a press release about its great sales results for 2020. This is a revelation that many of us expected, considering the fact that the Bavarians indirectly shared it last December. The one-off E92 M3 pickup appears briefly in a marketing video shot in “M Town.” A side decal reading “26 2021” is also included.
This was probably a hint as to the date at which the car will officially be presented, week 26 in 2021. The wraps could be removed anytime between June 28th and July 4th. BMW has not yet released the identity of the car, but the press release does say that it will present an electric-powered performance automobile for the first.
At this time, it is unclear whether we are dealing with a pure EV hybrid or a pure EV. Some claim that the BMW X8 M will be a plug-in hybrid and others say it will be an M-branded version. According to the press release, the electrified M vehicle will be joined by the M4 Convertible “in the time for the warm seasons.” The highly anticipated HTML3 Touring will be delayed as BMW claims that the performance wagon is still in development.
The M5 CS will be unveiled in the next few days and is the king of the hill 5 Series. It offers more power and lighter weight. BMW promises that all M models with a manual gearbox, including the M5, will have automatic-only Competition models. Two-pedal system is an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission equipped with Drivelogic supplied by ZF. This means that the DCT will be lost in the next M2 competition.
BMW shared the following information: The M3 and M4 models will receive the xDrive AWD system in the summer. This is a first for this dynamic duo. Fast forward to 2022 and Markus Flasch, M head honcho, says that it will be “a full year of surprises” because the M division will mark half a century.
