Maranello’s CEO is positive that the model will surpass customers’ expectations.
This week Ferrari held its shareholders meeting, during which Benedetto VIgna, Chief Executive Officer, announced that two new models were planned for 2022. The convertible version of Ferrari’s 296 GTB will be on display April 19, while the other model is the company’s first SUV. Although the Purosangue has not yet been revealed, Maranello, the CEO of Maranello, said that the official debut will be held “in the coming month”.
He did not go into details about the Prancing Horse on Stilts. He only said that it will “exceed our customer’s expectations”. These new models will complete Ferrari’s plan of launching 15 new cars by 2022, which was announced at the Capital Markets Day in September 2018. We will be hearing about the next business plan presented by Ferrari in June.
You might not be aware that the first Ferrari without a combustion engine will arrive sooner than you think. Although the company initially stated that it would not be available for sale until the second half decade of this decade, the EV has been pushed forward and will be ready for market in 2025. The 342-page Annual Report for 2021 discusses how stricter emission regulations could impact enthusiast’s views.
“Depending on future regulatory developments, customers’ expectations regarding performance, sound, and driving experience may be affected.”
We can only hope that the term “V12”, as Ferrari’s engineers call it, will be used during the Capital Markets Day. In fact, Michael Leiters, technical boss, announced plans to create a more powerful twelve-cylinder engine that would surpass the 830-hp configuration found in the 812 Competizione.
Ferrari does not use the term “SUV” anywhere in its official documents that mention the Purosangue. The Annual Report 2021 however, labels the Maserati Levante as an SUV. What’s the Purosangue? It was previously called a Ferrari Utility Vehicle (FUV), but it is now called a luxury high-performance vehicle for the GT range.
The Sustainability Report 2021 lists “Purosangue”, a body type, alongside the traditional coupe or spider. It’ll be a four-seater, with rear doors and more legroom than the GTC4Lusso that came before it.
