The RS5 gets the Sportback treatment for the first time.
Officially Announced by Audi of America President Scott Keogh at the start of the year, the first-ever RS5 Sportback will debut today at the New York Auto Show. The new member of Audi Sport’s family, unlike the RS4 Avant that is not available in the U.S.A., will be available for sale in Canada and the states starting in the second half.
You’ll be happy to know that Audi has hints in a press release that the RS5 Sportback will also be available in Germany. This key word would be “yet.” While it remains to be seen when the five-door coupe will arrive on the continent, it shouldn’t be too long.
Although pricing details are not available, it may cost approximately the same as the RS5 Coupe in the United States starting at $69,900. This is due to the $200 price difference between the S5 Coupe and the S5 Sportback models. The RS5 Sportback can reach speeds of 174 mph (280 kph), but Audi won’t unlock higher velocity unless you purchase the Dynamic plus package. The electronically maximum speed limiter will kick in at the normal 155 mph (250 km/h)
The optional 20-inch wheels can be purchased by those with more cash. There are also several visual packages available: matte aluminum, gloss black, carbon and carbon. You can also increase the price of the RS5 Sportback by ticking the box for “sport differential”. This will allow your car to distribute torque between its rear wheels. You can also get the Sonoma Green Metallic paint (exclusive to the RS4 Avant, and two RS5 models) as an optional extra.
