Volvo announced the introduction of the Cross Country, a masculine version the V40.

Volvo unveiled the all-new premium hatchback in February and now the Cross Country version. The Cross Country has a masculine look with a dark front bumper, honeycomb mesh grille, vertical daytime running lamps, and sculpted sills. The standard model’s driver sits 40mm higher than the driver, and the V70 has a wider range of wheel options (up to 19 inches).

The Volvo V40 Cross Country is powered by a five-cylinder, 2.5-liter T5 engine. It produces 254 bhp (187kW) and 295lb-ft (405 Nm) respectively. There’s also a 29lb-ft (30 Nm) overboost that can be applied during acceleration. The power unit is connected to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This allows the car to sprint from 0 to 60 mph (100 km/h) in 6.1 seconds. It also has a fuel consumption rate of 7.8 liters/100 km. The T5 engine can also be found in a smaller version with 213 horsepower (157 kW) or 221 lbft (300 Nm), but this is only available for certain markets.

The 1.6-liter GTDi T4 engine is another option. It has 180 bhp (128 kW) and a peak torque output of 199lb-ft (276 Nm), which includes the 22lb-30 Nm overboost. The V40 Cross Country is a 5.5-liter engine that can be fitted with this engine. It has CO2 emissions of only 129g/km and a range of 100 km. The T4 comes in a 2-liter 5-cylinder configuration, with 180 bhp (132kW) and 221 Lb-ft (399 Nm) of torque. You can choose to have the T4 mated with either a 6-speed Powershift manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The 2.0-liter 5-cylinder D4 turbodiesel diesel has 177 bhp (1130 kW) peak torque of 295lb-ft (405 Nm), which is enough to sprint from 0-60 mph in 8.3 seconds using the automatic gearbox and 0.3 seconds with the manual. The fuel consumption is 4.4 liters/100 km, and CO2 emissions are 117 g/km. However, the automatic gearbox consumes 5.2liters/100 km with CO2 emissions of 137 g/km. The 2.0-liter D3 produces 150 bhp, and 258 lbft (350 Nm), of torque with both transmissions.

The D2 1.6-liter diesel has 115 bhp and 210lb-ft (285 kW), with the 11lb-ft (15Nm) overboost. It is mated to a 6-speed manual with stop/start to allow the V40 Cross Country to have an average fuel consumption of 3.8 liters/100 km and CO2 emissions as low as 99 g/km.
