It beats the Tesla S Long Range by an incredible 115 miles.
The 415-mile Tesla Model S Long Range with 19-inch wheels was the longest-range electric vehicle ever evaluated by the Environmental Protection Agency. Lucid Motors’ Air electric sedan is now taking its place. According to the official EPA rating, the car can travel 520 miles on a single charge in its most efficient configuration.
This would be the Lucid Air Dream Edition Range with 19-inch wheels, while a car with the larger 21 inch set will cover an impressive 481 miles. The Air is a better choice than the Model S Long Range. It covers 115 miles on the standard wheels, and 106 miles on the larger set. The Dream Edition Range produces 933 horsepower, while the Tesla Model S plaid-rivaling Dream Edition Performance boosts output to an astonishing 1,111 horsepower. The range drops from 471 miles on the 19-inch version to 451 for the 21 inch model. Lucid Motors also sells the Air in a Grand Touring version with 800 horsepower and either 516 or 469 miles range depending on your wheels size. All six versions are now at the top of EPA’s list of electric cars with the longest range. The sedan is built on a 900V+ electric architecture that promises 300 miles of range in just 20 minutes. It also supports bi-directional charging.
The 1,111-hp model can do 0-60 mph within two-and-a-half seconds and cover the quarter-mile in 9.9 seconds. The Lucid Air comes in a variety of motor configurations, depending on the model. It also has a large 113-kWh lithium battery pack that will provide the massive range and choice of single or dual-motor options. The production at the new $700 million factory in Arizona has begun and customers should expect to receive their first deliveries later this year. The $169,000 Dream Edition has been sold out so you will have to settle for the $139,000 Grand Touring. Lucid Motors is asking $95,000 for its 620-hp Touring model, and $77,400 to purchase the base 480hp Pure with a range of 406 miles.
