The 2013 A-Class looks significantly better, with its sleek styling, sophisticated engines, and high-tech interior.
Mercedes officially revealed the 2013 A-Class.
The car looks significantly better than the concept. It adopts the swoopy styling. Its overall design is sporty, which helps to give it an impressive 0.26 drag coefficient.
There will be three different versions: Urban, Style, and AMG Sport. The latter model has red styling accents and a unique front axle. It also features a revised suspension, and 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.
The cabin is well-designed and made of high-quality materials. Highlights include a COMAND display, a circular air vent and “silver chrome” accents.
There are many engines under the hood. There are two petrol engines: a 1.6-liter and a 2.0-liter unit. Their outputs range from 115 PS/85 kW/113 hp in the A 180 to 156 PS/115 hp in the A 200, and 211 PS/155 kW/208 hp in the A 250. The 1.6-liter engine has a new CAMTRONIC system that adjusts the valve lift on the intake side. This reduces fuel consumption and helps to lower fuel consumption.
The A 180 CDI is a diesel engine that produces 109 PS (80kW/108 hp), 250 Nm (184lb-ft), while the A 200 CDI has 136 PS (100kW/134 hp) as well as 300 Nm (221lb-ft). The A 220 CDI’s 2.2-liter engine produces 170 PS (125kW/168 hp) as well as 350 Nm (258lb-ft).
Regardless of the engine choice, it comes with an ECO stop/start system. It can also be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 7G DCT dual-clutch auto.
Safety-wise, the standard collision warning system includes adaptive brake assist. You can combine it with the optional PRE-SAFE system, which automatically tensions your seatbelts and closes your windows in the event of an accident.
