Volkswagen has revealed the new Euro-spec Passat B8 which is described as “the most successful European business vehicle”

Volkswagen has revealed the all new Euro-spec Passat, which is described as “the most successful European business vehicle.”

The new Passat measures 4767mm in length, 1832mm in width, and 1456mm high. This makes it 2mm shorter, 12mm wider, and 6mm lower than its predecessor. Volkswagen engineers managed to trim 85 kg (188 lbs) using a combination hot-formed steel, high-strength steel and aluminum. The lightest model weighed in at 1,312 kg (2.892 lbs).
Officially revealed 2015 Volkswagen PassatThe wheelbase has been extended by 79mm to 279mm. 31mm wider front tracks (1584mm) and 14mm larger rear tracks (1568mm) have also been added. The suspension is 9kg lighter and includes front MacPherson Struts and a multilink setup for rear. The LED taillights are standard on all models. Optionally, the headlights can be equipped with Dynamic Light Assist LEDs that adjust the high beam automatically to avoid disturbing incoming traffic.

The eight-generation Passat has a trunk that is 21 liters bigger than the previous model, which now measures 586 liters. Variant’s cargo volume has increased by 47 liters, to 650 liters. The Variant’s rear seats can be folded down to increase the luggage space to 1,780 Liters. The Passat’s new design offers more leg-, shoulder-, and head room than its predecessor.

The following engines will be available with the Passat B8:

  • 1.5 TSI with 125 PS (92kW) and 150PS (110kW)
  • 1.8 TSI (132 kW) with 180 PS
  • 2.0 TSI with 220 PS (162kW) and 280PS (206kW)
  • 1.6 TDI (88 kW) with 120 PS
  • 2.0 TDI with 150 PS (110 kW), 190PS (140 kW), and 240PS (176 kW).
  • 1.4 TSI plug in hybrid with 211 PS (155 kW).

The traditional analog instruments that were used on the upper-spec models have been replaced by an Active Info Display, a 12.3-inch TFT screen. This is the same display as the TT. A head-up display is also available. It’s a separate glass panel that is located within the dashboard’s top to project all relevant information within the driver’s line of sight.
