Officially Revealed 2022 Kia K9 With Substantial Facelift

The new grille is larger and the lights are redesigned for the flagship.

The company announced that it would end the Cadenza and K900 in America at the start of this year. The all new K8 keeps the smaller sedan going in international markets. Now, the company’s flagship car will also be getting an update to meet demand. Although it’s not a new model, the visual changes are significant.

The full-size, posh sedan was sold in South Korea as K9 and is currently being shown in two official images that show the new headlights. They are flatter in design. The bumper is cleaner looking and features air ducts at the corners. The exterior changes include new 19-inch alloy wheels, and an updated corporate badge. Interior changes are also expected. Although the K9/K900 has been around for just a little more than three years, South Korean brands are shortening product life cycles in order to make the products more competitive with German brands.

It is refreshing to see Kia still investing in facelifts, next-generation models and a shrinking sedan market. Although crossovers and SUVs have replaced the three-box formula, it is still valid. The new K9 is only days after Hyundai updated the Grandeur sedan in the domestic market. This was just before the 2022 arrival of the next-gen model.
