Mercedes-Benz has revealed the S600 Guard after last weekend’s preview.
Mercedes-Benz claims that the S600 Guard has been “completely certified” as the world’s first vehicle to be able to provide the highest level of ballistic protection, VR9. Protective components have been specially designed for the armored S-Class. They are made of a special steel and are inserted between the body structure & outer skin. Special aramide (heat resistant synthetic fibers) as well as polyethylene components are included to provide additional protection against splinters.
The glass has been covered with polycarbonate inside, and the laminated structure is also present. The S600 Guard is visually identical to the non-armored model. It can be ordered as a four- or five seater and has a 350-liter trunk. The same V12 6.0-liter twin turbo engine produces 530 PS (390kW) and 612lb-ft (830Nm) of power as the regular S600.
Guard-specific equipment can include a panic alarm system and opaque roller blinds.
