Mercedes has finally revealed the 2012 C-Class Coupe after several leaks and a Super Bowl teaser.
Mercedes officially revealed the 2012 C-Class Coupe after several leaks as well as a Super Bowl teaser.
The coupe has an elegant design. It is one and a quarter inches lower than the sedan. It features an expressive front fascia and a high beltline. There is also a kinked back window. Engineers had to add a traditional B-pillar to increase chassis rigidity. This is unfortunate as the pillarless design of Mercedes coupes is very well-known.
The cabin is reminiscent of the C-Class lineup. It features a flat-bottom steering column, aluminum trim (Burl Walnut or Ash Olive Matte are also options), metallic accents and a 5.8-inch C-Class COMAND display. You can choose from heated front seats, Harman/Kardon sound system and GPS navigation.
Although the European engine lineup isn’t known, U.S. models will come with a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder and a V6. The entry-level engine is rated at 201 horsepower (150 kW/ 204 PS) with 229 lbft (310Nm) of torque. This allows the car to accelerate from zero to sixty mph in just 7.1 seconds, and reach a maximum speed of 130 mph (209km/h). The V6 produces 302 horsepower (225 kW/ 306 PS) as well as 273 lbft (370Nm). The C-Class can accelerate from 0-60 in just 5.9 seconds, and reach 130 mph (209 km/h) at the top. No matter which engine you choose, they are both connected to a seven speed automatic transmission.
