You can capture 4K video in just 20 minutes and it charges in less than 20 minutes. It can also be used to communicate with people.
Do you remember the last time that you did hot laps in your McLaren and needed to call a Ferrari-owning buddy to brag about how fast you had just done? You can make the call from a McLaren phone starting December 13. It’s kind of.
British supercar manufacturer, British Supercar Manufacturer, teamed up to mobile phone company OnePlus in order to create a McLaren-branded special McLaren Edition cell phone. Although the name isn’t easy to pronounce, the features listed in the press release (below) suggest that the phone is ready for supercar status. Although we aren’t experts in mobile tech, we can understand 10GB of built-in storage, 4K video capability at 60 frames per second, and a 20 minute full charge. All of this is possible on the new McLaren phone.
We are a bit uneasy about the recharge ability. It uses Warp Charge 30 from OnePlus, which according to release, sends 30 watts to the phone “without slowing it down even when the device’s being used or is generating excess heat.” But is this a smart move to pump a hot phone full of electricity? McLaren has provided more information. We love speed and have reached out to McLaren. We prefer it to be free from potential consequences.
This McLaren-branded phone comes in a black carbon fiber body with some orange trim. McLaren claims that the unboxing experience of this trick phone is “to a whole new level” thanks to a McLaren logo made of carbon fiber and a book detailing the history of OnePlus and the automaker. McLaren-specific software animations are also included in the phone.
What price will this phone cost? The phone costs $699 and will be made available in North America and Western Europe within a few days. Later, the phone will be available in India, China, as well as the Nordic countries.
