The base Grand Sport received more than $46,000 in upgrades.
Don Yenko, a man from Ukraine, modified the first-generation Camaro with 450 horsepower (335 kilowatts) between 1967 and 1969. It became a legend at the track and was revered by enthusiasts for many years. The Yenko name is back, almost 50 years later. It’s this time on another Chevy item.
This is the 2018 Yenko S/C Chevy Corvette. It was revealed at Classic Industries in Huntington Beach before its official debut at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale.
Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) is a New Jersey-based company that built it. It’s based upon the Grand Sport and uses a factory LT1 engine which has been bored to a displacement of 6.8 liters, rather than the standard 6.2 liters. SVE made sure to include a forged steel crankshaft and forged aluminum pistons. The cylinder heads were CNC ported and polished. A 2.9-liter twin screw supercharger is the cherry on top.
The engine produces 800 horsepower (596 kilowatts) as well as 750 pound-feet (1.016 Newton-meters). You can choose between a seven-speed manual or an eight speed automatic. This gives you a time of 0-60 mph (96 kmh), and a top speed well above 205 miles per hour (329 km/h). It’s better than the Z06.
SVE will be displaying its Corvette custom at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, as previously mentioned. This package costs $46,000 more than the base Grand Sport and can be purchased in either a coupe, or convertible. Only 50 examples of the package will be made. California’s strict emission regulations mean that the car cannot be registered.
