Opel Corsa Looks Great in Virtual OPC Suit

It could happen. We think so.

Last week, the sixth-generation Opel Corsa was unveiled with an all electric powertrain that is shared with the new Peugeot208. It has 134 horsepower (100 kilowatts) with a range of up 205 miles (330 km) according to the new WLTP cycle. The EV will also be available in ICE-powered versions such as regular gasoline and diesel cars as well as an OPC range-topper. Kleber Silva has created new renderings of the latter.

These digital drawings show the clever design of the new Corsa This will be a solid foundation for a more sporty five-door model. The car’s exterior features include new bumpers with bigger air intakes, larger wheels and a twin exhaust system built into the rear diffuser. Designer also added small OPC badges to the hot hatch and gave it a two-tone look with a dominant blue color for its body.

Although we haven’t yet heard about an OPC version, it is likely that one is being developed. The new model is up 108 kg (239 pounds) lighter that its predecessor. A small turbocharged engine would work wonders in the front with the supermini’s four-door doors. A combination of better suspension and brakes, plus more power could result in a solid pocket rocket.

The fifth-generation Corsa was available in OPC trim. It had a 1.6-liter turbo-engine that produced 204 horsepower (152 Kilowatts) as well as 181 pound-feet (245 Newton meters) of torque at 1,900 to 5,800 rpm. A 1.2-liter Peugeot-sourced engine with 128 horsepower (95 kW) is expected to be the most powerful internal combustion engine in the new Corsa. A 1.5-liter diesel engine with 99 horsepower (74 kW) will be available.
