An electrified restomod can display messages on its grille.
New teaser images as well as a video of Opel Manta GSe ElektroMOD are available. The retro-modern coupe’s screen at the front can display a variety messages and animations. The full debut of the model won’t take place until May 19, 2021.
Opel is the name for the display found in the nose, also known as the Pixel-Vizor. It can display things such as “My German heart was Elektrified” or “I am on an e-mission zero.” A manta Ray swimming between the headlights is also shown on the screen.
“With the Manta GSe we are building a bridge between the great Opel tradition and a very desirable sustainable tomorrow. Pierre-Olivier Garcia, Opel Global Brand Designer, said that this mix of modern and zeitgeist is truly fascinating.
An Opel Manta GSE ElektroMOD is built using a Manta A taken from the Opel Classic warehouse. The classic black hood is still visible on the most sporty versions of the coupe. It also features a bright neon yellow body. The interior features a digital cockpit.
Opel Manta GSe ElektroMOD was created as a demonstration of what is possible. There’s no indication that the company will build more. Other than the possibility of replacing the four-cylinder engine with an electric motor, technical specifications are not yet available.
Opel plans to electrify all of its lineup by 2024. This overhaul will be promoted by Opel through the Manta GSe ElektroMOD.
GT/E was the top-of-the-line version of the first-gen Manta. The fuel-injected, 1.9-liter four cylinder made 103 horsepower (77 Kilowatts) and produced 113 pound feet (153 Newton-meters). Opel gave the car a more modern look by adding stripes to the sides and rear deck and a black hood. Black was also used for the panel between the taillights.
