All of humanity!
“Chocolate Rain,” Zoom the camera out to see the lie. That’s the line from Tay Zonday’s 2007 YouTube hit ” Chocolate Rain”. But when you zoom in on an accident on a Polish highway all you can see is tragedy. According to The New York Times, a semi-truck that was traveling between Warsaw, Poznan, and Poznan, flipped Wednesday and spilled 12 tons of liquid chocolate onto four lanes. The truck managed to smash the guardrail between two lanes of traffic and came to rest on three lanes.
Both directions saw drivers stopped as cleanup crews removed the truck and hardening chocolate. The situation was made worse by the mild spring sun. Marlena Kukawka was a media officer with the police in Slupca. She told the publication that firefighters used hot water to melt and wash away the chocolate. Drivers were at risk from the slipper chocolate.
Kukawka stated that “we have to remove the truck off the highway first” in a telephone interview with The New York Times. She said that the cleanup would take several hours. It would take several hours to clean up all the mess, according to authorities. Kukawka reported that the 60-year old truck driver was receiving treatment for minor injuries. Kukawka reports that the truck appears to be the only vehicle in the accident. However, it is not clear how the accident occurred.
The world lost 12 tons of chocolate but it is reassuring to know that no one was hurt. It could have been worse, especially if it had landed on another vehicle. It sounds great until you realize that it isn’t. There are worse substances that could have been thrown onto the roads. Although it may have been a problem for drivers, it was not gasoline or any other dangerous substance. Liquid chocolate is not a danger to drivers in the grand scheme.
