According to some, the engine makes a “diabolic sound”.
The Huayra Imola is the most powerful Pagani to date, with 827 horsepower. A new report by TheSupercarBlog suggests that the Huayra R will offer significantly more power even with the removal of the turbochargers. The hottest Huayra is already confirmed to have a new naturally aspirated engine. It’s rumored that it will produce more than 900 horsepower without the need for forced induction.
The engine is believed to be a V12 from AMG, which was developed in collaboration by HWA, the same people behind the infamous Apollo Intensa Emozione. The V12 hypercar’s 6.3-liter engine produces 780 horsepower and 561 pound-feet (561 Newton-meters) in a vehicle that is only 1,250 kg (2,756 lbs).
The Huayra R’s engine revs beyond 9,500 rpm, and produces a “diabolic”, soundtrack. The Huayra R could end up being a track-only machine, similar to the Zonda R. This would allow engineers to unleash the V12 and not have to worry about emissions regulations. Lamborghini Squadra Corse achieved this feat with the 6.5-liter unit from the Essenza, which unlocks a meaty 830 horsepower.
The Ferrari 812 Superfast’s V12 of 6.5-liters produces 789 horsepower and could be boosted with a few Prancing Horses to make the hot version that we have seen repeatedly. The upcoming Aston Martin Valkyrie, with its Cosworth V12 producing over 1,000 horsepower, must not be overlooked.
Pagani announced that the Huayra R would debut on November 12. Although we have lost track of the number of versions, the hypercar has seen many more than the Zonda. The Huayra has a history similar to the Aventador. It is as old as the V12-raging bull and shows no signs of slowing down in order to make way for a successor.
Pagani’s only model is the Huayra for now. An SUV, and/or sedan are being considered for the second part of the decade. AMG twin-turbo V12 with AMG twin-turbo will continue to be used until at least 2026. A fully electric model is also on the horizon. The replacement for the Huayra will come out in 2022 with the powerful twelve-cylinder engine and codename “C10”.
