Pagani and Koenigsegg are a few of the specialized automakers that produce a limited number of hypercars per year. Although their production numbers are small, they cannot avoid emission regulations. Mercedes and Pagani began their relationship in 1994, when the German automaker offered to supply Pagani with V12 engines. Even though AMG is phasing out the powertrain from its own vehicles, Pagani’s plans to continue using the AMG-sourced V12 engines until at least 2026 are not surprising. AMG stated that it will continue to make the engine for sub-brands like Mercedes-Maybach, which allows Pagani to continue using the engine.
Internally, the C10 is the Huayra’s successor. The V12 will power it. The C10 will not be a Huayra replacement. According to Pagani, the model will be powered by a V12 engine, but it will also produce a full-electric vehicle. They won’t share the same platform – the EV will be modified.
Pagani is still unsure of his plans for 2025, but he may be moving in a completely different direction. Pagani acknowledged that the company had considered an SUV. It would be high-quality and cost at least EUR3million ($3.3 million at current exchange rate). Pagani said that the idea of an SUV was being discussed with collectors.
Pagani’s transformation is not happening overnight. Regulations and Pagani’s younger customers, who are located in North America and the Asian Pacific, are driving Pagani’s move towards electrification. This is in contrast to its 50-year-old European customer base. For now, the V12 will be kept, but Pagani will transition to electrification once it is ready. It will likely deliver the obscenitiest performance and craftsmanship customers have come accustomed to.
