The good news is that there are many similarities between the prototype model and the production model.
Nissan created a lot of buzz last September with the Proto. It was a prototype that was close to production for the next generation Z sports car. It featured a twin-turbo motor, a manual transmission, and bold design language. It appears that not much will be different when the model is made into a production version.
CarExpert via IP Australia has leaked patent images that show the design of the new Z sports car. We can see that the exterior design will not change much compared to Z Proto. Only a few details remain, such as the design of the wheels or the shape of side mirrors. But everything else looks very promising.
The front fascia is identical to the prototype’s. The bumper’s lower section and grille pattern are identical. Although the patent drawing does not show the internal graphics of the headlights, we believe the shape and position of the LED daytime running light will remain the same.
The same goes for the back, where the bumper diffuser, bumper and taillights all look identical to the Z Proto. Only one thing may have been modified in the production car is the lip around the exhaust pipes, but this patent image makes it difficult to see.
The Z Proto’s twin-turbo V6 engine powered it, but the displacement and power figures of that engine were not revealed. This motor is believed to be the same as the Infiniti Red Sport models. The new Z sports car, tentatively named 400Z, could have upwards of 400 horsepower (298kilowatts). The new Z sports car will be available as a 2022 model, but we won’t know until later in the year.
