Pebble Beach 2012: The “Best in Show Award” was won by a 1928 Mercedes-Benz 680S Saoutchik Torpedo.

There were lots of beautiful and interesting cars at this year’s edition of Pebble Beach but only one of them managed to win the “Best in Show” award. We are talking about this gorgeous 1928 Mercedes-Benz 680S Saoutchik Torpedo roadster motivated by a huge 6.8-liter supercharged engine. It was designed by Jacques Saoutchik, a French coach builder and in the present is owned by Paul & Judy Andrews who live in Texas. The last time a Mercedez-Benz won this award was back in 2001.

The 680S was left in a garage for over three decades after the death of its original owner. It required a complete restoration to get it back in its original condition. The vehicle was then sold at auction in the 80s. It was purchased by the current owner two years earlier.

There were more than 220 vehicles at the 2012 Pebble Beach, 11 Saoutchik models included, but this vehicle won the grand prize.
