The 308 GTI will be equipped with a 1.6-liter THP (turbocharged straight-injection) engine of 200 PS (147kW) and 275 Nm. The French launch of the 308 GTI will be June 10, with prices starting at EUR26,000.
Peugeot announced the 308 GTi.
Many French fans are ready to say “finally” to the French marque. Peugeot has not released a GTi in this category of vehicle for more than 10 years.
Peugeot 308 GTi will feature the same 1.6 litre, THP 147 kW (200 PS), engine as the RCZ coupe model. This engine makes the 308 GTI more competitive than the 155kW (211 PS), Golf GTI, which is the standard GTI in this segment.
The THP engine is fitted with a twin-Scroll turbocharger, a high-pressure direct-injection system with VTi technology and variable valve and timing injection. It produces 275 Nm (203 lbft) of torque. It will be mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 7.7 seconds, while fuel consumption is 6.9 liters/100 km. CO2 emissions are 159 g/km.
Sound system technology was also used to ensure that the engine rumble produces the sporty sound customers want
The GTi-specific ride is achieved by the MacPherson front suspension in the 308, which has larger bearings and damper settings that are specifically designed for the 22 mm rods (in the standard car). The same damper treatment is also given to the rear torsion beam suspension.
The outside features 18-inch wheels with 225/40 R18 tyres, a rear spoiler and a lowered rear bumper. A black (Perla Nera), diffuser is also fitted. Dual chrome exhaust pipes are also included. A lowering panel is also used from the 308CC. The front bumper has a carbon-style insert underneath.
GTi-badges can be found on the sides and rear of your car.
The interior features an aluminum foot rest, a gear knob, and a leather sport steering column.
The new 308 GTi will go on sale in France starting June 10, with prices starting from EUR26,900.
