The prototype was camouflaged by our artists.

Peugeot, the French automaker, is adding a new crossover to its range with the 4008. Our spy team recently spotted a prototype production model while testing it, giving us a clear view of the new model. It will be a coupe SUV. This is a popular design among luxury brands and is now being adopted by mainstream automakers.

Our artists then attempted to wrap the camouflaged prototype, giving us a glimpse of the Peugeot 4008 coupe SUV. The 4008 is said be based upon the 308-3008 duo. However, the rendering is also based upon the 308 stationwagon.

The most recent spy photos indicate that the 4008 coupe SUV will have a lot of space. Black plastic will be used to clad the bottom of the Renault Arkana competitor. Peugeot’s current design language will be used on the face. It features a pair large LED “fangs”.

The rear is where the biggest changes are made. The 4008 will be a coupe SUV. Therefore, the roofline should begin to drop right after the B-pillar. The C-pillar also has a kink that highlights the rear corner. This isn’t visible on the 3008 or the 308 station wagon/hatchback.

Although several reports claim that the designation 4008 is not confirmed, it has been confirmed. Stellantis has provided some details on the 2022 product roadmap, including a “C crossover” and a plug-in hybrid powertrain. This means that the Peugeot 4008 could be launched this year with a PHEV configuration, similar to the one on the electrified 308 or its sister model, Opel Astra .

As the company continues testing, we expect to see the Peugeot 4008 more often. As of writing, the launch date for the Peugeot 4008 is unknown.
