The French marque has unveiled its most powerful production vehicle to date, after tweaking the 5008 and 3008 crossovers. Performance plug-in hybrids combine a turbocharged, 1.6-liter gasoline four cylinder unit with two electrical motors. The combustion engine produces 197 horsepower (147kilowatts) as well as 221 pound-feet (321 Newton-meters). The electric motor mounted on the front is rated at 110 hp (81.2kW) and 236lb-ft (325 Nm), while the rear motor produces 112 hp (83kW) and 122 lb (166 Nm).

The Peugeot Sport Engineered 508 can produce a total of 355 horsepower (265 kW) & 384 lbft (520 Nm) through an eight-speed auto transmission. This makes the Peugeot 508 the most powerful Peugeot car, surpassing the 3008 GT Hybrid4 300 and RCZ R. It doesn’t count as the 308 R Hybrid concept, which was launched in 2015 and has close to 500 horsepower.

The all-wheel-drive 508PSE has a lot of power, but it is also very quick. It takes only 5.2 seconds for the vehicle to reach 62 mph (100 km/h), regardless of its body type. Electronically, they are limited to 155 mph (250 km/h), and can reach speeds of 84 mph (135km/h) when powered solely by electric juice. The 11.5-kWh battery pack can provide enough power to run an electric vehicle for 26 miles (42 km) per WLTP. A 32-amp wallbox can be used to recharge the battery in less than 2 hours.

You might be curious about the car’s weight, after all of the hybrid-related hardware has been added. The sedan weighs in at 1,850 kg (4,078 lb), while the wagon measures in at 1,875 kg (4.134 lb). The cars can reach speeds of 50-75 mph (80 to 120 km/h), despite their weight.In the first half next year, dealers will receive the Peugeot 508PSE. It is expected to open the door to a next-gen 308 PSE, which will likely arrive in 2022 and compete with the Volkswagen Golf R with over 300 horsepower.
