Peugeot Ion’s Trunk Has Kitchen For The Ultra-Tiny RV Electric

What could possibly go wrong with an open flame in your trunk?

The old saying goes, “Where there’s will, there’s way.” Although it doesn’t make sense for us to convert the Peugeot Ion’s trunk into a functional kitchen, Kiwi EV Adventures host sees it as a necessity. He tackles the task of fitting a sink and prep area for a cooktop and refrigerator in the small space.

This is a difficult task that requires a lot of preparation. To create the basic countertop shape, the builder uses cardboard. Then, he or she cuts out plywood to make the design. Because of the trunk opening’s complicated curves and limited area, it is more difficult to include cabinets.

Kiwi EV Adventures has made the unusual decision to include a gas camping stove in the back. An induction cooktop is a safer choice. These are a bit more expensive, but they don’t have an open flame at the back of your car which could be dangerous.

It takes some engineering to incorporate the sink. The host removes the bottom from a metal bowl and places a waste water tank beneath. A separate reservoir provides fresh water to wash food.

It is also small, with only enough space for a few cans of soda. It would be difficult to fit any larger items in the small space. Maybe there is enough space in the cabin to store a cooler?

This hard work has produced a decent tailgating system. Although it isn’t strong enough to live in the wilderness, it would be ideal for overnight camping. Kiwi EV Adventures will likely need to travel with a friend, as his Ion doesn’t have enough space to carry the tent and sleeping bag once he has installed a kitchen at the back.

Kiwi EV Adventures can upgrade to the Nissan ENV200. There’s even enough room for a bed inside.
