French car manufacturer has unveiled details about its flagship sedan. It now looks sportier than ever.
Although it’s been quite some time since the Peugeot 508 was unveiled in 2011, the company just revealed a new second-generation version. This will make many think twice about buying a car with a zombie lion.
In a few weeks, the new 508 will be officially revealed at Geneva Motor Show. But clearly, the French car manufacturer couldn’t wait for the world to see its new car. It is keen to remind everyone, however, that SUVs won’t have it easy.
The new 508 continues to be larger than ever and is now 60 millimeters (2.3 in) shorter, 80 mm (3.0 in) shorter, and 20 mm (0.8 inch) wider.
The new sedan looks great, with its distinctive grille design and aggressive front and rear lighting, and frameless doors that suggest ambitions to go beyond a middle-of the-road car.
The trunk space has been increased from 14 to 487 liters and the opening is larger. This makes it more practical. To create a spacious 1,537-liter load area, the rear seats can be folded to make it more compact.
The i-Cockpit is a must-have feature in Peugeot’s entire range. Although the small steering wheel and high-mounted instrument panels have divided opinions, the centrally mounted touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital instrument panel are definitely distinctive.
Ambient lighting, massage seats, and a variety of interior finishes in leather, Alcantara, and real wood are all nice touches.
One gasoline engine is available at launch with two power ratings. The 1.6-liter unit has 177 horsepower and 217 HP ratings. It can also be equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Two BlueHDi diesel engines are available in 1.5-liter or 2-liter sizes. These diesel engines are available in three power outputs: 128 hp and 158 hp and 177 horsepower respectively. They can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or one of the eight-speed automatics. Peugeot claims that the car will lose around 70 kg (154 pounds) between generations, which will help boost its economy. The car will be available in 2019 as a plug-in hybrid.
The new Peugeot 508 comes with a variety of driving assistance technologies. These include adaptive cruise control and emergency automatic braking, sign recognition, and automatic main beam switching. You can order the new Peugeot 508 with a night vision system.
In a few weeks, the new car will be officially launched at Geneva Motor Show. It will then go on sale in Europe later in the year. Pricing is yet to be revealed.
