It’s like a G70 sedan, with a longer roof. That’s a good thing.

Rumours suggested that Genesis might develop a wagon version its G70 sedan in early 2020. The company released a family photo showcasing the brand’s future lineup. It appeared to include a wagon. The wagon was confirmed by spy shots of the G70 with a long roof, which Genesis published today on Instagram.

Although we don’t have a chance to see the whole car, the teasers show a lot, even with the camouflage warp that covers the model. These images are our first glimpse at the rear-end design of the G70. Spy shots from various batches have shown it with thick cladding covering the rear hatch. The teasers reveal a lot about the design. This is your standard wagon rear with a sloping hatch and a small spoiler.

The rear look is borrowed from the refreshed HTML70 sedan. The large, oval exhaust tips and the bisected taillights carry on. The G70 shooting brake, however, shows the lighting elements extended onto the hatch, rather than the sedan’s taillights being kept off the trunk lid. The lower bumper design is the same between both. Although there aren’t any interior teasers available, it’s not likely to look the same as the sedan. It is available with a 10.25 inch infotainment screen.

The engine bay should also reflect the similarities between the wagon and sedan. This means that the 2.5-liter engine from the base wagon will likely be the same, producing 290 horsepower (216 Kilowatts) as well as 310 pound-feet (402 Newton-meters). A diesel engine is also possible. Genesis appears ready to unveil the G70 wagon. However, the sleek model will not be available in the US. These teasers were taken from Genesis’ Worldwide and European Instagram accounts. Wagons don’t sell well in the USA.
