Polestar Confirms It Competes With Porsche

We’ll keep you posted.

Polestar, a fledgling electric car manufacturer has made Porsche its primary competition. During an interview with auto motorsport, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath made this bold claim. It’s a bold claim for a company that has only built two models so far. But Ingenlath has big plans to make Polestar a bigger company with models that can compete directly with Porsche.

Polestar aims to make cars that are carbon neutral by 2030. Polestar calls this massive undertaking Project 0 internally and dedicates all aspects to being greener. This ambitious project will continue to shape the brand’s future and help it achieve its long-term goals.

It wants to be the best manufacturer of premium electric cars, despite Polestar’s environmental goals. This will mean competition with Tesla, BMW and other manufacturers in the sports sedan/SUV space. It also targets Porsche’s future electric sports cars. Thomas Ingenlath says, “We are competing against Porsche for the best electricly powered premium sports car.”

Polestar faces many challenges in achieving its vision. All manufacturing is done in China and the cars are shipped to European customers. Polestar intends to use more rail applications, and hopes to expand into European Volvo plants in order to increase production and reduce emissions. Polestar plans to produce their future Polestar 3 in Southern California, with a long-term goal.

Polestar’s future looks bright as it begins to gain customers from premium segments that aren’t being served by other brands. Polestar will continue to gain market share because of the growing interest in electric vehicles and the increasing demand for them. They can compete with Porsche in building an electric sports car. We are excited to see the results.
