Manthey-Racing upgrades the track car that is already a hardcore racer.
After allowing the Porsche 911 GT2 RS win the title of the fastest streetcar at the Nurburgring the Manthey-Racing team decided to build the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport. The single-seater, already a formidable track machine, has undergone a series of upgrades that focuses on reducing excess weight.
A representative from Manthey-Racing discusses the numerous modifications that the GT4 Clubsport received, and he is joined by YouTuber MishaCharoudin. The GT4 class’s SRO series saw the Cayman develop multiple carbon fiber body panels. These include the front and rear bumpers, trunk lid, trunk lid and the rear spoiler.
This diet includes carbon fiber body panels, but also the rear and front windows of the modified Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport which are made from polycarbonate. New BBS wheels are used to meet SRO requirements. The safety mesh is also placed on the side air intakes to prevent any damage to the vents from racing. The headlights have been modified so that the team does not need to replace the whole cluster in case of an accident.
Manthey-Racing also made a variety of improvements inside the cabin to ensure safety. The door cards have more foam to absorb impact energy, and there are safety nets to the driver’s left and right. Additionally, the SRO has a sensor that allows organizers to track everything going on in the car’s race.
These upgrades are available for purchase by MR either individually or as a complete package. This is approximately EUR28,000, which is about $31,600 at current exchange rate. Taxes not included. You can visit Porsche to inquire about these goodies. They’ll connect you with Manthey-Racing representatives. MR provides support for customers, as well as selling the parts.
