The King of Caymans has arrived.
The Porsche Cayman has one problem. It is faster than the 911, despite its superior mid-engine layout. Porsche is trying to offer customers a Cayman with a more powerful performance trim, but this can’t be too difficult. Porsche is making some changes. The 718 Cayman GT4 RS builds on the success of the Cayman GT4, which was very close to competing with higher trim 911s. The current Cayman GT4 has a 4.0-liter flat-6 engine that produces 414 horsepower (308 Kilowatts), and 309 lb.ft (418 Newton meters) of torque. The Cayman GT4 starts at around $100,000 and delivers very similar performance to an entry-level 911 Carrera.
The 718 Cayman GT4 RS, which will be the most powerful Cayman ever built, will set new standards for performance and surpass the Porsche 911. Cayman’s smaller footprint and mid-engine layout make it an excellent sportscar over the Porsche 911. It only needs a good engine and some extra love from Porsche’s GT department in order to become the car it was made to be. The 718 Cayman GT4 RS is expected to make its debut in a few months in the late 2021. The 2022 model will be the first to debut. A limited production run will celebrate the end the 718 Cayman 982 generations.
