Everything is big: wheels, vents and rear wings, diffuser and exhaust tips.
Porsche was spotted in northern Europe the other day while they were perfecting the 718 Cayman version, which will take the form of the formidable GT4. The new Cayman crown jewel is positioned above the GTS. This suggests that an official reveal may be just around the corner. We are betting on the Geneva Motor Show opening its doors in the middle of next month.
The GTS is different from the GT4 in that the new bumper features larger air vents for better cooling. Below the hood is a large slat similar to the 911 GT3/ GT3RS feature.
The naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter gasoline engine will be available in the GT3 models, which are the highest-end GT3 models of the 911 family. It is expected to make its way into the 718 Cayman GT4. Although it will be tuned, the engine should still pack more than 400 horsepower. This means that there will be a slight increase in power over the GT4 by at least 15%. The new Cayman , which is a hardcore , will be lighter and faster around corners than the predecessor.
The back of the prototype is showing major changes in comparison to the GTS. Most notable is the addition of a fixed rear wings and a diffuser with two large exhaust tips. They no longer sit in the same place on the GTS. Although the GTS’s taillights and headlights look almost identical, there may be some differences between the models.
We expect to see a re-tuned suspension and bespoke alloy wheels. This will complete the package and justify the GT4’s premium over the GTS. The latter is priced at $79,800 in America. A base 911 starts at $91,100 so some people will need to make difficult decisions: get the Cayman GT4 911 or a standard 911 911. It will be difficult to choose one when you consider the 718 Boxster Spyder.
