Uwe Gemballa’s son is creating a lightweight Porsche 992, inspired by the 959.
The new Porsche 911 Turbo S will be on display at the Geneva Motor Show, but only a few people will be able to view this unique 911. The Nine Eleven that you see will only be available to potential clients and early adopters during a private event to be held at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. We will all have to wait for the full thing later in the year.
What exactly are we looking at, then? Because the 992 shown here in retro style isn’t Porsche, “Custom” is the keyword. It is the creation of Marc Phillipp Gemballa GmbH. If you recognize the name, it is because Uwe Gemballa was his son. The new company, Marc Phillipp Gemballa GmbH, will be carrying the Marc Phillipp Gemballa GmbH branding, to better reflect its origins.
We don’t have any details about the car at this time, but we know that its design will be inspired by Porsche’s 959. The teaser image shows the car’s wide rear spoiler, which harkens back to the 1980s off-road-ready supercar. However, the 992 twist is evident in the thin LED taillight strip.
Alan Derosier was the creative director at Studiokurbos, where the design was created. He was responsible for the styling. Before moving to Stuttgart, Germany last year, he worked as an Exterior Designer for Chinese automaker Chery. His experience includes the development of renderings of Porsches. Relevant examples include modern-day versions of the 963C racing cars and the 908/04. Porsche was attracted to the former rendering and decided to make a documentary showing a scale model that was made after the rendering.
The car will be built, which is the most significant difference between the 992-based custom creation project and previous ones. To reduce weight, production will be limited to 40 examples. All cars will receive a carbon fiber body.
We will be watching this 992 special, not only because it will be a real car but also because we are huge fans of the designer.
