Thank goodness there are still sections of the German autobahn that can be used without restrictions.
Porsche might claim that the new 911 GT2RS cannot go faster than 211 mph (340 km/h), but the Stuttgarters may have underestimated the power of the ultimate Nine Eleven. SportAuto magazine was able to test the crown jewel in the 911 range. It also took to the German autobahn, where it reached the maximum speed on one of its remaining sections.
The 911 GT2 RS was able to reach an astonishing 221 mph (356 kph). However, speedometers can sometimes show a speed slightly higher than the actual speed. Sport Auto claims that there was a GPS aboard and the supercar reached 212.5 mph (342 km/h), which is slightly more than the official Porsche number.
We are not only impressed by the speed of the 690-horsepower, rear wheel-drive beast. The 911 GT2 RS takes just 2.8 seconds (100 kph), 5.8 seconds (0-160 kph), and 8.3 seconds (0-124 mph) to complete the 0-124 mph (0-170 kph). It takes just 22.1 seconds to complete the sprint from 60 mph (100 kph), to 0-186 mph (300 kph), and 8.3 seconds for the 0-124 mph (0-200 kph). Porsche claims that it takes 5.5 seconds to go from 60 to 124 miles.
These numbers are impressive, but they don’t tell the full story of Porsche’s flagship model at $293,200. It’s not often that we see a Porsche flagship model shift into seventh gear at speeds of around 200 mph (323 km/h), but it is possible.
