This is the last GT3 RS naturally aspirated GT3 RS.
It is finally here. We finally have the 911 GT3RS after weeks of spy photographs, most of which were very thinly clad. It will make its debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks, but it is now.
The photos are not the only proof of the 911’s naturally-aspirated engine. This flat-six produces 520 horsepower (383 megawatts) and can rev up to the stratosphere (which in this instance still means 9,000 RPM). Although Porsche was speculated to increase the GT3 RS’s engine displacement, the mill continues to run as a 4.0-liter thoroughbred. Porsche claims it can hit 100 km/h (62mph) in 3.2 seconds, en route to a top speed of 312 km/h (194mph).
A seven-speed PDK PDK gearbox, specially calibrated to the GT3 RS, manages the power. Recalibrated rear-axle steering features 21-inch lightweight wheels with 325/30-series rubber at their backs. The GT3 RS features 20-inch wheels with 265/35 series tires. Although we don’t know what elastokinematic bearings actually are, Porsche engineers have eliminated them from all suspension arms in favor of ball joints. The RS has aerodynamic tweaks such as the rigid rear wing and weight reduction. Porsche does not disclose how light this 911 iteration is. However, it has carbon fiber seats with lighter door panels and less sound absorption.
Buyers can also choose the Weissach package, which swaps out various carbon components for the exterior and interior. The package also includes magnesium wheels. Porsche has confirmed that the GT3 RS’s lightest configuration weighs in at 3,152 pounds (1.430 kilograms). The Clubsport package, which is a free option, adds a rollbar, fire extinguisher and the preparation necessary to install a battery disconnect switching.
Porsche claims the 911 GT3 RS can be ordered now and will launch in April in Germany. For buyers in Europe, prices start at EUR195137, while for U.S. Porsche enthusiasts, the base price is $188,550, which includes delivery. We wouldn’t be surprised to see these numbers rise as more cars are sold.
