To celebrate Porsche China’s 20th Anniversary.
That isn’t clickbait. Remember Chris Labrooy’s 3D Porsche Swan artwork? Although it was a mere figment of the artist’s imagination, Porsche loved it immediately and even boasted about it. It was so absurd that the automaker had to make it a reality.
The bizarre and surreal Porsche China 20th Anniversary Art Car was built by the German marque. According to the automaker the swan car is a tribute to the first Porsche to be sold in China. This is the real 996-generation Porsche 911. However, we doubt that you will be able to drive one. Porsche stated that the oddball would be available for viewing in galleries and museums if you are interested.
Here’s some background information about the artist who created this masterpiece. Chris Labrooy, a Royal College of Art graduate, is based in Scotland. His work is seen all over Europe and America for editorial and publishing. Clients range from airlines to fashion labels.
Labrooy has a 718 Cayman GTS at the moment, which shows that he loves the brand enough to make this fowl-themed artwork. He is a car enthusiast by nature. Labrooy stated, “I have always been interested in cars, since I was a little boy.” He said, “I would play with them, then draw them, and then drive them in computer game.” As a child, I was always fascinated by cars’ design. I can remember watching an episode of Top Gear where they went to The Royal College of Art. I told my friends the next day that this was the place I wanted to go. To study car design.” The Porsche 911 swan car art car is not available for purchase. However, Labrooy has them listed on his website with prices starting at PS130 (or around $176 depending on current exchange rates).
