Porsche is currently celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the 911 Carrera RS 2.7. A special exhibition will be held at the museum beginning September 20. It was the first 911 to be introduced on the streets in 1972.

The RS 2.7 was a homologation exclusive to race the model. The 2.7-liter flat-six fuel-injected engine produced 207 horsepower (155 Kilowatts) as well as 188 pound-feet (255 Newton-meters). The optional Sport package, which reduced the vehicle’s weight, allowed it to reach 62 mph in 6.0 seconds.

Porsche needed only 500 units to homologate the RS 2.7. It was so popular that 1,580 units were sold.
