Porsche Carrera GT Sings its V10 Song at 194 MPH on The Autobahn

This one is best for headphones or speakers.

Porsche does not often release a hypercar. But, it is noticed. The 959 was a Stuttgart marque. It also gave the 918 Spyder an off-road vehicle and the 918 Spyder a plug-in hybrid V8 engine. But the Carrera GT is perhaps more desirable than these two iconic cars. It is widely believed that the mid-engined, removable-roof machine was the last chance for the analog hypercar. A naturally-aspirated V10 sends power to the rear wheels via the manual gearbox. The only other thing an enthusiast would need is gasoline and a stretch of road without speed limits. YouTuber AutoTopNL,, who earns a living driving fast cars on the Autobahn at high speeds, had the opportunity to take the CGT on a high-speed test on one section of Germany’s beautiful highway.

Porsche’s range-topper, which was born in an era where there wasn’t a gasoline particulate filters because emissions regulations were much less strict, sounds incredible while it revs up to 9,000 rpm. It’s still very fast, even by modern standards. It’s clear that such an engine won’t be found in any road-legal production vehicle, as the automotive industry is moving towards EVs. It is a shame that Porsche did not follow up on the CGT by adding another V10-powered car. Although the 918 Spyder V8 hybrid had more power, the unique sound of the 5.7-liter engine from Le Mans’ origins is still impressive.

The car’s design is like fine wine, and the exhaust tips are still some of our favorite. We are certain that Porsche enthusiasts with very deep pockets would be eager to purchase something similar that would capture the essence of the Carrera GT. Maybe a track-only interpretation in the same vein of the
modern-day Porsche 935. It’s all wishful thinking. Porsche has been playing around with the idea for a new crown jewel. In November 2020, the 919 Street fullsize clay version was revealed. This model had been kept secret for several years. According to Oliver Blume, the company’s CEO, a new hypercar will not be available before 2025. We can safely say that it will be electrified more than the 918 Spyder and that we would not rule out the possibility of an internal combustion engine.
