The twin-turbo V8 with 641 horsepower will be able to match the power of the raging bull.
The Cayenne Coupe was unveiled by Porsche three months ago in Turbo and standard flavors. However, more variants are currently being developed. The not-a-coupe SUV is being offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and a Turbo S E-Hybrid as an option. This SUV will surpass even the Urus, as it has the same 680 horsepower that the equivalent Panamera. Motor Trend’s Jonny Loverman learned that the Lamborghini’s twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 engine will now be fitted in the Cayenne Coupe’s GT version. It will be able to produce 641 horsepower, the same power as the Urus. This would make it more powerful than the Turbo, but less than the Turbo S E-Hybrid.
The new Cayenne Coupe flavor will now be designed for track use. This is a strange statement considering that we are dealing with a heavy and large SUV. However, Lamborghini has created a race version the Urus as a preview by the STX concept. I suppose anything is possible these days when people are only buying SUVs.
Referring to the Porsche again, it is highly unlikely that it will simply be called “Cayenne Coupe GT” as it has the suffixes “GT1”, GT2 and GT3 of the 911. However, some will recall Porsche trademarked the “GT5” moniker in 2015. A Cayenne Coupe GT5 with the Urus-sourced engine would likely undergo a diet, and get some chassis and suspension tweaks. The package would include upgraded brakes, slightly modified styling and aero tricks. These improvements will increase the chances that the model can beat the Nurburgring record of the fastest production SUV. Currently, the record is held by Mercedes-AMG’s GLC 63S with a time 7 minutes and 49.369 secs.
