It will be launched in 2023 along with a Boxster EEV.

It is a well-known fact that the Boxster and Cayman replacements will feature an entirely electric powertrain. Lutz Meschke (deputy chairman of Porsche’s board), made the announcement a few months ago in an interview with Top Gear magazine during the launch of the Taycan. CAR Magazine has released a new report that includes preliminary technical specifications about the dynamic duo, which is expected to be available for sale in 2023.

The electric coupe and convertible will be powered by two electric motors, each with 400 horsepower. This would place them between the GTS / Spyder/ GT4 in terms output. These cars will come with either rear- or all-wheel drive and are being built around an aluminum monocoque. The first car will likely have a single electric motor driving its rear axle. This is similar to the Taycan sedan, which was expected to produce a simpler single-motor version.

The report mentions the electric Boxster and Cayman, who will share the hardware with the Audi TTE and the rebirth Lamborghini Urraco. The raging bull was sold between 1972 and 1979. It took the form of Marcello Gandini’s 2+2 coupe, with power coming from a V8 in various stages of output.

CAR magazine reports that Rimac will participate in the development and production of zero-emission sports cars after Porsche’s decision to increase its share in Croatian company to 15.5 per cent. Top Gear thinks the electric Macan’s Premium Platform Electric could be used as a foundation for both the Cayman and the electric Boxster. TG believes that the arrival of EVs will not mean the end to the older models. There could be a time period of 2-3 years where the ICE and EV versions can peacefully coexist.

Porsche has not yet released the new-gen Cayman. However, the company has suggested that they will release a GT4 RS version. We might have seen it in testing.
