Porsche Design’s limited-edition watch matches the new 911

The timepiece is approximately 4 percent less expensive than a new 911 at $5,411.

Porsche Design celebrates the new Porsche 911 by launching a limited edition watch with the same silhouette. Only 911 units will be made at the United States price of $5,411 and 4,911 euros in Europe. The timepieces will go on sale in April 2019, a few months ahead of the model’s summer debut.

Although the 911 Chronograph Timeless Machine Limited Edition has a rather simple name, it is quite attractive. The 42 millimeter titanium case features bead blasting and has cut-out lugs at both the top and bottom. The face is surrounded by a narrow bezel. The strap is made from the same leather as the 911.

The black face is used as a contrast to the red second hand. It also matches the details for the chronometers. The 911’s dashboard gauges are echoed by the white hour and minute hands. It is the same design as Porsche Design’s original watch, the Chronograph II in 1972. It has a 48-hour power reserve and Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750 movements. Looking at the back, the mechanicals are visible, and there’s a Porsche-Design-branded winding rotor. The vital components are protected by a sapphire crystal case.

Porsche Design also offers limited-edition watches. The division also created an appealing chronograph for June ‘s sixth Porsche Rennsport Reunion. A timepiece was also made in 2018 to celebrate the company’s foundation in 1948.

The 911 Carrera S is a powerful 911 with a 3.0-liter twin turbo flat six that produces 443 horsepower (330kilowatts) and can reach 60 mph (96 km/hr) in 3.2 seconds when equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package. The only available gearbox at launch is an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
